Spring 2016
According to Providence Business News in October 2015, Neighborhood is the fastest-growing large company in our region. This came as no surprise to us: over the past two years, our membership has doubled, and so has the size of our staff. More growth is still to come.
Our robust expansion is encouraging, but it forced us to realize we had outgrown our Providence facility at The Foundry, where we had squeezed our staff into four different buildings. With this in mind, in early 2016, we took the necessary and invigorating step of opening new offices in Smithfield. The move to the Smithfield Office Center at 910 Douglas Pike means that our employees will be able to work under one roof, enhancing our ability to work more efficiently with one another and, by extension, our providers. We will move in phases through 2019 – although we are never truly leaving the capital city. Neighborhood plans to maintain a presence in Providence in order to remain a part of the community where so many of our members live.
As we moved to a new building and began to offer new health insurance plans through HealthSource RI, we felt the time was right to refresh our look. The company and our services have evolved tremendously since our founding in 1993. But our mission – the heart of what we do – remains the same. We are committed to making sure everyone in Rhode Island has access to affordable, top-quality health care. What began as an effort to better serve children with low-income has grown to include families and individual adults on society’s margins as well.
Our new logo shows Neighborhood’s heart, formed by embracing arms: the many, coming together as a supportive whole. Each half of the heart takes the shape of a wave – the Ocean State is our home, after all!
But more than that, the heart reminds us why we come to work every day. Neighborhood’s employees genuinely care for each and every one of our members. We strive to make their lives better. For us, our new look is an emotional interpretation of who we are, what we do and where we’re headed.
